Childsplay

Normand Park
13 October

We follow them around the park
recalling games of children past,
and look how clothes and music changed
and children don’t play all the games
they used to play –
or is that what they always say?

Childsplay runs until Sunday 14 October

The Most Gorgeous Lady Blessington

The Wallace Collection
12 October

Within the house there lies a gallery
of red brocade and gilt; and here she sits,
happy in silk, as in her portrait.

Here she travels time and continent,
recalling friends and creditors, husbands
and lovers, paintings and poetry;

and here her life unfurls and floats away,
thinner and sadder now, as might a leaf
from some grand old oak tree.

Love and Information

Royal Court
11 October

Here the playwright takes a cell
and splits it into beads and particles of love.
Feeling and dream and pain and passion
pass like clouds across a sharp, white stage,
racing away without a pause to see the crystals
that within them seem to gaze.

Love and Information runs at the Royal Court until 13 October

Ding Dong the Wicked

Royal Court
10 October

Tiny, a seed, a conversation
played out on a slice of stage.

These words are seeds
of something terrible;

even in slices they appear obscene
and unforgivable.

Ding Dong the Wicked runs at the Royal Court until 13 October

The Woyzeck

New Diorama
4 October

The story circles on knife blades
that trip and conjure blood,
glitter and dust.

The Woyzeck stumbles from experiment
to degradation, learning the worldly lesson
of distrust.

The Lover falls for earrings and admiration,
forfeiting both their lives
for misplaced lust.

The Woyzeck runs at the New Diorama Theatre until 13 October

Three Sisters

Young Vic
2 October

Three sisters dancing,
crying, drinking, longing for love
and happiness, Moscow, escape.

They built their lives on tables,
parties, promises of love, and now
the slow abandonment of hope.

Slowly they edge towards quiet
and resignation, the solace of work
and drawing in of sleep.

Three Sisters runs at the Young Vic until 3 November
